P90 Meets Humbucker on New SC-Special Hybrids

Double humbuckers on our original SCs, double P90s on our SC-Specials, and now, the SC-Special Hybrid combines the best of both worlds. Isola CL-P90 in the neck position and an Isola VT-500CR Alnico 5 humbucker in the bridge: it's a combination that gives the rock-style guitar a unique spin. The bark of a P90 up front, and the roar of a humbucker to back it up down south.

Single-coil Split

Okoume body, C profile Canadian medium-roasted maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard with a 305 mm (12″) radius. Neck thickness runs 20 mm at the 1st fret and 23 mm at the 12th, striking a comfortable middle ground for moving between chords and lead runs. 22 nickel medium jumbo frets (2.7 mm) and dot inlays. A push/pull coil-split on the volume control opens up the humbucker even further, splitting it to single-coil for spankier, articulate tones when called for. Combined with the 3-way selector, the SC-Special Hybrid has a wide, unique tonal range.

Brash Build

Reinforcing the guitar’s road-ready rock’n’roll build are a 628 mm scale length, 42 mm graphite nut, double-action truss rod, and a 3-ply pickguard finished against a smooth satin body. Chrome hardware is kept simple and dependable with a wraparound bridge. HB locking tuners for fast, stable string changes, strung with Harley Benton HQS strings, .010–.046 gauge. Four finishes: Vintage White Satin, Smoke Black Satin, Sherwood Green Metallic Satin, and Maya Gold Satin, the SC Special Hybrid now joins fellow legends in our Vintage Series.
